My Story
The author, Soozie Lewis, has lived in Nevada since 1984 with her husband and family. The great joys and heartbreaking difficulties of life, mixed with the beauty and dry rustic essence of a wilderness land, have been an inspiration to create the BLOOMINGSONS sagas of HALEY ROO and EXCUSE MY BUFFALO.
Even though the places and the names of their locations in the books are real, all of the Bloomingsons of the Nevada Sage characters and their names are entirely fictional. Roger and Lissy, their parents Paul and Katy, the neighbor man Mr. Newman and his grandson Buck, their friends Pearl and Stoney, loyal Ernie and generous little Deedee, the Journoir boys, crazy Henry, slimey little Irwin, good-hearted Mrs. MacCauley and Mr. Min, and even horrible Rigney—maybe you’ve known or heard of some people like them some of the time. Maybe you’ve even been like some of them at one time or another, but we can all fight our sin nature and do what’s right, or follow it and do what’s wrong and end up in a heap of trouble from our own making. The world, with its evil despots, has problems enough for us, and good behaving or bad, we’re all in the same stew pot!
